In our single days, both Penny and I spent time in Belgium with summer ministries. Since then God has steadily grown our interest, burden, calling and fit for a commitment of our lives to church planting ministry there.
God has been opening some doors and teaching us how we may serve our new land. We hope to provide the gospel of Jesus Christ, growth in a variety of Bible study formats and service to eventual church planting efforts.
Belgium is one-seventh the size of South Dakota, yet boasts a population of 10 million. Belgium is divided in half by two languages: French is spoken in the south while Flemish (Dutch) is the official language of the north. There is also a small German speaking section in the East. We live in the Flemish city of Ghent. Our village on the south side of the city is called Zwijnaarde (sounds like Zwain-arda). (CLICK HERE FOR A MAP; HERE FOR A HISTORY)
Today, only a fraction of 1% of Belgians attest to the assurance of having a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. A remote few know for certain from scripture their sins are forgiven and they rest in a secure position for eternity. Our vision for Belgium is to see people discover God is alive and well, and also that He is looking for a love relationship with them.We believe many would be thrilled to find they may rest from their efforts to qualify for heaven and come to trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ for their salvation.
Our mission - Evangelical Free Church Mission - operates as a "faith" mission in believing God will raise up laborers for His harvest, and also raise up a financial and prayer support team to thrust out church planting ministries to places like Belgium. God has provided a solid and encouraging team for us to this point. Of course, if you believe God is specifically leading you to help expand this ministry in some way, then we just ask that you first pray and comfirm God's direction and then enjoy serving God with us.
