THESE
ARE THE SCRIPTURES JOEL READ AT THE FUNERAL:
law
which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or
to
the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.
8
This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall
meditate
on it day and night, so that you may be
careful to do according to
all
that is written in it; for then you
will make your way prosperous, and
then
you will have success.
9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and
courageous! Do not tremble or be
dismayed,
for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.''
Deuteronomy
33:
27a
The eternal God is your refuge, And
underneath are the everlasting arms;
Psalm
121:
1 I
will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From whence shall my help come?
2
My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
3
He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.
4
Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep.
5
The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand.
6
The sun will not smite you by day, Nor the moon by night.
7
The LORD will protect you from all ;
He will keep your soul.
8
The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and
forever.
Romans
8:
16
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
17
Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and
co-heirs
with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we
may
also share in his glory.
18
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the
glory
that will be revealed in us.
19
The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be
revealed.
20
For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but
by
the will of the one who subjected it, in hope
21
that the creation itself will be liberated from its to decay and brought
into
the glorious freedom of the Glory of the Children of God .
22
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of
childbirth
right up to the present time.
23
Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit,
groan
inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption
of our
bodies.
1
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first
earth
had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
2 I
saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from
God,
prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
3
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God
is with
men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God
himself
will be with them and be their God.
4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more or
mourning
or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
