and Amanda Lord You Have My Heart
Dave says…Sara, please face Josh and hold his
hands, palms up, so you may see the gift that they are to you.
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and vibrant
with love, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as he promises to love
you all the days of his life.
These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you
build your future, as you laugh and cry, as you share your innermost secrets
and dreams.
These are the hands you will place with expectant joy against your
stomach, until he too, feels his child stir within you. These are the hands
that look so large and strong, yet will be so gentle as he holds your baby for
the first time, and then only a couple of years later takes their hand and
guides them safely across the street.
These are the hands that will work at the keyboard of his computer in
the business world supporting you and your family. These are the hands that
will open that new Black & Decker Home Repair Book and help you with the
many household tasks of maintaining a home.
Notice the blister on his thumb. These are the hands that enjoy gripping
a golf club that sends that little white ball straight into a sand trap, oh, I
mean the cup.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you
through the years, for a lifetime of happiness.
These are the hands that will comfort you in illness, and hold you when
fear or grief wracks your mind.
These are the hands that will tenderly lift your chin and brush your
cheek as he raises your face to look into his eyes; eyes that are filled
completely with his overwhelming love and desire for you.
Ken says…Josh,
please hold Sara’s hands, palms up, where you may see the gift that they are to
you.
These are the hands of a princess, for that is what Sara means – the
hands of a royal daughter of God, chosen for the high calling of doing Kingdom
work.
These are the hands of your best friend, smooth, young and carefree,
that are holding yours on your wedding day, as she pledges her love and
commitment to you all the days of her life.
These are the hands that will skillfully demonstrate the principles of
math, science, writing and social studies to children.
These are the hands of a bargain shopper, making stewardship of God’s
resources a reality in you home.
These are the hands that will massage tension from your neck and back in
the evenings after you’ve had a long, hard day.
These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through
difficult times.
These are the hands that will comfort you when you are sick, and console
you when you are grieving.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you
through the years, for a lifetime of happiness.
These are the hands that will hold you in joy and excitement and hope
each time she tells you that you are to have another child, that together you
have created a new life.
These are hands that will hold each child in tender love, soothing them
through illness and hurt, supporting and encouraging them along the way, and
knowing when it is time to let go.
These are the hands that will join you in computers, golfing, and
chasing down your dreams in the business world. They will help you lay hold of
all that God has planned for you. They are the hands of God’s helper, a gift to
you.
MESSAGE (Pastors

EXCHANGE
OF VOWS (Pastor Ken)
Do you,
Josh, take Sara to be your wife?
And do you
pledge your faithfulness to her, in all love and honor, in all duty and
service, in all faith and tenderness, to live with her and cherish her,
according to the ordinance of God, in the holy bond of marriage?
JOSH: “I
do”

SARA: “I

I. Josh, take you, Sara, to
be my wedded wife,
to have and to hold from
this day forward;
for better, for worse,
for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love and cherish as long
as we both shall live,
according to God's holy
ordinance,
and thereto I pledge you my
love."

EXCHANGE
OF RINGS
"Now in God's sacred providence He has given
us reminding tokens, and following this precedence you have chosen rings. These rings are of the most precious metal,
which suggests the most priceless relationship on earth, that of a Christian
home. Furthermore, the ring is endless
until it is broken by and outside force, which fittingly represents the
permanency of the marriage union until it is broken by the outside force of
death."
"Josh, take your ring and place it on the hand
of Sara your bride and repeat after me. . .
"I give you this ring as a symbol / of my
love, affection and commitment to you."
"Sara, take your ring and place it on the
hand of Josh your groom and repeat after me. . . .
"I give you this ring as a symbol / of my
love, affection and commitment to you."
PRONOUNCEMENT
"For as much as Josh and Sara have consented
together in Christian marriage; and have witnessed the same before God and this
company; and thereto have pledged their faith, each to the other, by giving and
receiving a ring; I pronounce that they are husband and wife, in the name of
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Those whom God has joined together
let no man put asunder."
